JDB Essay Example

JDB Essay Example JDB Essay JDB Essay Competition within the herbal tea market also remains relatively low because there is no competition for herbal tea existing at the current market. It is suggested that Gadabout use the direct export to enter the Australia and use the contingency approach to enter the market. It is also recommended it to use a pull strategy, such as to invest a TV show to help build brand awareness and relationships with their target market. 1. 0. 0 Gudgeon Gadabout Drink Food Co. , Ltd. 1. 1. 0 Company background Gadabout Group is a large beverage enterprise owing to their healthy drink in Hong Kong. Target market Gadabout found the unique positioning that aimed at the majority of people who afraid of the internal inflammation. 2. 3. 0 Marketing mix 2. 3. 1 Product Gadabout is a kind of function drink based on traditional herbal tea hundreds years ago to prevent inflammation in China. After the brand war with Guanos Wangling Pharmaceutical Company Ltd, Gadabout still use the red can with the Chinese character Gadabout instead of Wong Ala Kate. 2. 3. 2 Price The price of Gadabout is higher than most beverages in China since it is a special healthy drink from various Chinese herbal. . 3. 3 Place Gadabout is sold through the supermarkets, retail-stores and restaurants, especially hot pot, and barbecue restaurants. Gadabout dedicated to charity work charity for several years because it not only could set good reputation in the society, but also indirectly make contribution to advertising and brand promotion as a sustainable beneficial for the development of the company. 3. 0. 0 Australian marketplace 3. 1. 0 Market Environment Source : Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 2013). Australia has a population is roughly 22. 7 million people and GAP per capita APP of US$44,074 in 2013. It is ranked as the second easiest country to do business since it offered one Of the best-regulated commercial environments in the world (World Bank Doing Business, 2013). The relationship be;men China and Australia was longstanding and played an indispensable role for both economic interests. China is Australias first largest export market and they commenced a Free Trade Agreement to further strengthen their business relationship. The tea market in Australia had total revenues of $ 1 1. Ban in 2012 with consumption volumes increased with a CARR of 4. 1 % between 2008 and 2012, which is expected to reach 4. Billion liters by 2017(Market Line, 2012). 3. 2-0 Consumer Behavior In Australian, a large number of customers prefer the healthy drink rather than caffeinated beverages cause healthy and wellness are still as the main factors to impact the purchasing decisions of customers. However, Consumers are affected by brand strongly, and the majority of competitors have to manage and deve lop their brands to capture the attention of customers. Overall, the buyer power is moderate. 33. Competitors In Australia, the majority of Customers do not like the taste of Chinese tea, which would attract many new products into the market. The substitutes for tea primarily include water, non-ready-to-drink hot drinks, alcoholic beverages and sodas. The Coca-Cola Company played the leading role account for approximately 36. 5% Of the market. Competitors in soft drink market distinguish their products by stressing their health benefits and taste, especially for functional drinks. Even though it would not easy for a new company to compete with the existing big brands, it would be possible to achieve small-scale success via a unique production method or nutritional benefits. Overall, there is a moderate likelihood of new entrants. 3. 4. 0 Opportunities In Australia, the awareness of health and wellness are the main factor to drive interest in tea market for the next several years. For the demographic factors, there are many Chinese people in Australia and most of them are Cantonese, they tend to the traditionally tea. Additionally, people in Australia like to eat some fry food, which are likely to get inflamed. 4. 0. 0 Entry Strategy Entry mode Advantage Disadvantage indirect exporting Low commitment in terms of resources] Low risk Lack of control Lack of contact with foreign market No learning experience Potential opportunity cost Direct exporting (foreign sales branch) More control (compared with direct exporting) More sales push (compared with direct exporting) More learning experience Need to build up foreign-based organizations] More demanding on resources Joint Venture Risk sharing Less demanding on resources Potential of synergies Risk of conflicts with partner(s) Risk of creating competitor Source: Adapted by Album and Udder (201 1), Mas (2008), Estate et al. 005) According to characteristics of the Gadabout, the origin regions and the development of its own brand are very important. So, it is not suitable for foreign direct investment. For the Joint venture, although it can use the local marketing channels effectively to reduce costs to enter the local market quickly, it would limit their brands promotion to restrict the long-term development. From long-te rm operation strategy, direct export has an advantage in establishing good brand effect, diversified distribution channels and effective social network. 4. 1. 0 Contingency approach Gadabout should use a contingency approach to enter the Australia market by maintaining their standardized model and making minor adaptations to the marketing mix to suit the marketplace (Leonardo et al, in Innovator et al, 2010). The need for adaptation increases according to the degree of cultural difference between two countries. However, in order to differentiate itself from competitors and build strong market share, it should adapt elements of its marketing mix to further appeal to Australian consumers. International strategies made by Gadabouts managers should have more consideration on preference of distance. Not only for geographic distance, but also culture, administrative and economic distances still need to be taken into account. 4. 2. O pull strategy This strategy aims to pull a product through the channels by making consumers end of a channel desire a product (Deanne, 2010). It incorporates most traditional advertising such as TV and radio commercials or newspaper advertisements. It also incorporates methods such as boosting word-of- mouth, or building brands online. The sales promotions, such as free samples, will help build brand awareness in the initial start-up period.

Otodus - Fascinating Facts and Figures

Otodus - Fascinating Facts and Figures Name: Otodus (Greek for inclined teeth); pronounced OH-toe-duss Habitat: Oceans worldwide Historical Epoch: Paleocene-Eocene (60-45 million years ago) Size and Weight: About 30 feet long and 1-2 tons Diet: Marine animals Distinguishing Characteristics: Large size; long, sharp, triangular teeth About Otodus Since the skeletons of sharks are composed of biodegradable cartilage rather than longer-lasting bone, often times the only fossil evidence of prehistoric species consists of teeth (sharks grow and shed thousands of teeth during their lifetimes, which is why theyre so abundant in the fossil record). Thats the case with the early Cenozoic Otodus, whose huge (three or four inches long), sharp, triangular teeth point to a full-grown adult size of up to 30 feet, though we know frustratingly little else about this prehistoric shark, other than that it likely fed on prehistoric whales, other, smaller sharks, and the abundant prehistoric fish that lived in the worlds oceans 50 million years ago. Its fossilized teeth aside, Ototodus greatest claim to fame is that it seems to have been directly ancestral to Megalodon, the 50-foot-long, 50-ton predatory behemoth that ruled the worlds oceans right until the cusp of the modern era. (This is not to diminish Otodus own place in the record books; this prehistoric shark was at least one and one-half times as big as the biggest Great White Sharks alive today.) Paleontologists have established this evolutionary link by examining the similarities between these two sharks teeth; specifically, the teeth of Otodus show early hints of the flesh-ripping serrations that would later characterize the teeth of Megalodon.

Leadership and Change in Construction Industry Coursework

Leadership and Change in Construction Industry - Coursework Example Some of these challenges are sector-specific. In the housebuilding sector, there is a shortage of housing, and this is unlikely to ease in the short term, unless planning regulations are relaxed and a substantial affordable-housing programme makes an impact: high house prices exclude many prospective first-time buyers from the housing market. The infrastructure subsectors have experienced a decline in work, much of which is due to delayed programmes in, for example, transport. The industrial construction sector has experienced a growth in warehouse construction work, but the factory sector is likely to remain subdued as the UK loses manufacturing jobs to cheaper manufacturing centres overseas. Commercial construction work benefits from major Private Finance Initiative (PFI) programmes in education and health, although some of these have been delayed. Output from office construction is particularly important in the commercial sector, while work in the retail subsector faces increasing planning restrictions. In the building materials subsector, there are challenges relating to rising energy costs and environmental issues, such as sustainable material sources, disposal of waste and recycling. New materials are being investigated to accommodate improved environmental features; for example, reducing heat loss and simplifying construction methods (UK Construction Industry Market Review, 2006). These major developments in the UK's construction industry highlight importance of the human resource issues to be faced by the managers within this sector of economy. Attracting skilled labour and career oriented employees (especially considering the growing share of part-time and causal job in the sector), retaining such employees in order to build bench strength required for succession planning, providing advanced training are only the most evident tasks to be fulfilled by the companies within the construction industry in the long-term perspective. Therefore, strong and effective leadership is a critical aspect of human resources related activities required to manage the recent challenges. Leadership in the modern highly dynamic and turbulent marketplace is not restricted to simply getting the employees to do what the leader wants and requires them to do. The key task of a modern leader in the construction industry is to bring out the very best of the employees' potential and help them focus their energies to reach a common set of goals. Therefore, some authors believe

The Critiquing Process in Developing Reliable and Valid Body of Essay

The Critiquing Process in Developing Reliable and Valid Body of Knowledge - Essay Example According to their first hypothesis, the coaches of different genders (male or female) would react upon the RLSS differently in leadership behaviors. On the other hand, the second hypothesis refers to the occurrence of differences on the RLSS among different coaching levels that include college, high-school and junior-high. Summary The data forming the sample was non-random, which comprise of 162 coaches being selected on the volunteer basis. There were 118 (73%) male coaches and 44 (27%) female coaches with in the sample. In relation to the level of coaching, the sample included 25 (15%) junior-high coaches, 99 (61%) high-school coaches and 38 (24%) college-level coaches. Although this makes a good sample however the issue is in the distribution of the sample, particularly, the sample number for the junior-high-level coaches is relatively low. Instead, a larger sample constituting all categories of coaches would have been helpful in the analysis of the data, especially in the case o f the potential interaction of gender with the level of coaching. The tool employed was the Revised Leadership for Sport Scale that was created by Zhang, Jensen and Mann (1997). The RLSS can be used to evaluate the 6 leadership behaviors that include training and instructional behavior, autocratic behavior, democratic behavior, social support behavior, situational consideration behavior and positive feedback behavior. Sixty statements were used in the scale, being preceded by the phrase, ‘In coaching, I’. Each one of these 60 statements were accompanied by a Likert scale that is: 1 for ‘never’, 2 for ‘seldom’, 3 for ‘occasionally’, 4 for ‘often’, and 5 for ‘always’. This constructed a data set of ordinal level of measurement. Scales were monitored according to various environmental settings such as the gymnasiums, the fields of practice, the classrooms and the offices. The internal consistency was estimate d for each type of leadership behavior, which corresponds to 84 % for training and instructional behavior, 70 % for autocratic behavior, 66 % for democratic behavior, 52 % for social support behavior, 69 % for situational consideration behavior and 78 % for positive feedback behavior. Nevertheless, there was no information provided in relation to the validity of RLSS. Evaluation & Review In order to analyze the data, a MANOVA was employed for the

Human-implanted Chips Essay -- Technology Electronics Essays

Human-implanted Chips While the idea of human tracking has its share of benefits, there certainly are numerous pitfalls that also exist. While the ability to identify someone with an ID tag may have practical uses, the security and privacy issues could seem potentially alarming to some. Not only that, a closer look may show that the technology doesn’t necessarily offer very many advantages when considering the costs of nation-wide adoption of the technology. This paper will try to investigate into these issues, whilst attempt to come up with some solutions. Ethical Issues One of the first problems with Digital Angel and the Verichip is the sparseness of information relating to the technology. A quick tour of the Applied Digital Solutions’ Verichip website will give you a quick synopsis of what RFIDs are, and then list a few possible uses of the technology. The Frequently Asked Questions page on the website is equally shortchanged on information, with just a short tidbit on how the chips are installed, among other information. With a device that people will be living with for the rest of their lives (should they choose to bestow it upon them), I feel that many would rather have available detailed information on the technology. This is even more applicable when you consider the hostility that many people breed to technology that could lead to their mass surveillance (i.e. fear of conspiracy); many of these people’s concerns will likely be alleviated just by releasing more detailed info out on the web for the public to see. The real problem will come when these chips are mainly used for tracking purposes. Though security cameras and the like already exist everywhere to monitor specific locations, they cannot put t... ...initely at risk if anything more than the barest of features are implemented with the technology. It’s evident that the technology is not a necessity today, and that widespread usage may be something that’s quite a bit ahead in the future, if at all. Unfortunately, this is one technology that may initially find a better home in countries seeking to better track their citizens. Bibliography â€Å"Chip Implants Already Here.† GreaterThings.com. Memory Techniques Essay

1. Organize – List facts in alphabetical or chronological order. Get a general idea of the textbook material, note the simple to complex and general to specific. Logical facts are easier to remember. 2. Make It Meaningful – Look for connections in what you are studying. For example, packing a parachute by itself can be boring, however, the excitement of jumping out of a plane gives a whole new meaning to this process. Focusing on the â€Å"Big Picture† helps provide meaning to the learning process and stimulates us to remember. 3. Create Associations – Associate something new with something you already know. This creates a building process in your memory bank. If you already know a Bill Smith think of the Bill you know and associate him with the new Bill Smith. 4. Learn It Actively – People remember 90 percent of what they do, 75 percent of what they see and 20 percent of what they hear. This saying is very accurate, as action is a proven memory enhancer. Move your hands, pace back and forth and use gestures as you recite a passage. If your body is actively involved it will help you to remember. 5. Relax – Eating proper foods, avoiding caffeine before an exam and getting proper exercise will help you relax and feel more confident. Relaxing will enhance your ability to recall facts faster, with more clarity, and you will feel better overall. 6. Create Pictures – Draw diagrams, make up cartoons. Use them to connect facts and illustrate relationships. When abstract concepts can be â€Å"seen† they are much easier to remember. You can be as creative as you want, as long as you understand your scribble. 7. Recite and Repeat – When you repeat something out loud you anchor the concept better by using two or more of your senses. Repetition is the â€Å"Mother† of learning. If you use more than one sense you create a â€Å"synergistic† effect which is powerful memory technique. If you recite out loud in your own words, memory is enhanced even more! 8. Write It Down – Writing notes to ourselves help us to remember. If we write down an idea or a passage several times, in different areas, we increase our chances to remember. 9. Reduce Interference – Find an area free from distractions. Studies show that most students study more effectively in a quiet area in 1 hour than in a noisy area in 2 hours. 10. Over-learn – When you think you got it don’t quit. Don’t miss a chance to review just one more time. Ever hear the expression â€Å"I beat that subject to death!† Do It! 11. Review Notes the Same Day – Studies prove that in order for us to store information â€Å"long term† it must be reviewed within 24 hrs. or less. By getting in the habit of same day review, we increase the chances of remembering by over 70 percent! 12. Use Daylight – This method is particularly effective for weekend study and review. Study the most difficult subjects during daylight hours. For many students the early morning hours can be especially productive and will stimulate the memory process. 13. Distribute Learning – Research suggest marathon study sessions (3 hrs. or more) are not as effective as light study sessions (1-2 hrs.) which are distributed at different times during the week. Take frequent breaks. Some students can study 50 minutes or more, others need to stop after 30 minutes. Try to distribute your length of study in the same rhythm as your classes (50/10/50). Give yourself rewards, you’ve earned it! 14. Keep a Positive Attitude – Studies prove that if you repeat to yourself negative feelings about a subject you increase your chances to fail! Since we all want to succeed, â€Å"Trash negative† and replace with â€Å"Positive Thoughts.† For example, replace â€Å"I can’t do it† with â€Å"It’s not easy, but I am tough and I accept this challenge.† Prove you can and you will! This is a self-fulfilling prophecy as attitude directly effects the memory! 15. Go On an â€Å"Information Diet† – Just as we avoid certain foods, we can choose what not to retain. Extract core concepts, study what you will be tested on, abbreviate large passages of information into easy to digest phrases, this will help you remember. 16. Combine Memory Techniques – All of the memory techniques work better when combined. You can over learn a formula, sing about a famous person, think positive thoughts about subjects, use sight, sound, and ot her methods to sharpen your memory. 17. Remember Something Else – When you are stuck and can’t remember, think of something related to the information. For example if you cannot remember a name, think about what the person did, what period they lived or who they associated with. Write down what you do know and soon it will trigger facts that you are trying to recall. This technique really works! 18. Note When You Don’t Remember – If you tried some memory techniques that do not seem to work, it’s all-right. Try an experiment with other techniques and use what is best for you and not what works for a classmate. Be a reporter, get the facts, find out what works and what doesn’t. Congratulate and reward yourself when you do remember. 19. Use It Before You Loose It – Information stored in the long-term memory may become difficult to recall if you don’t use it. Simply read it, write it, speak about it and/or apply it. This is especially effective when you have to recall formulas or facts from a previous course. The 101 course information may be used in a 102 course. Therefore, retain your notes, the old text, and keep the information fresh with a review. 20. Affirmation of Your Good Memory Helps You to Remember – When you are sharp and recall all the facts, accept compliments! When you do not recall the facts, think that you know it, you can remember, and the facts will come to you. You may have to use various techniques to help you remember but never give up! You truly â€Å"never forget.† Those facts will eventually â€Å"come to you.† Keep studying, try again and they will!

Sport Btec Fittness Cards

Muscle exercised Pectorals, triceps, biceps and deltoids. These muscles are located in your shoulders, arms and thorax. Method Lie down on the bench, make sure your comfortable as you do not want to be adjusting during reps. Grip barbell roughly 8 inches apart, again make sure your grip is secure and comfortable. Lower the bar slowly and smoothly directly over your chest and in the same rhythm up to the top again. Try to remain smooth in your transaction from the down to the up as if you are doing it in a jerking action you my cause injury.Your back should remain in contact with the bench at all times and your arms should not lock. Notes Your biceps and pectorals are agonist when your on the way down with bar and on the way up they are antagonist. your biceps are synergist with your triceps because when your biceps are agonist your triceps are antagonist and vice versa. Deltoids are agonist when the bar is on the way up and antagonist when the bar is on the way down. Muscle exercised Rectus abdominis Method Standard sit ups consist of lying flat on your back with your legs bent up at the knees in a triangle shape. You then bring your chest up too your knees, this should be done with your arms across you chest because if they are behind your head it is easy to pull your head up and strain your neck. Obviously you then reverse the action going back down trying to keep your back slightly of the ground each time as to feel the full effects of each sit up. Notes The rectus abdominis is agonist on the way up in the standard sit up and is antagonist on the way back down. This means that on the way up it shortens to allow the movement to take place and then on the way down the muscle will relax again. The best example of agonist and antagonist movements is in a twist sit up. This is because when your internal oblique is agonist your external oblique is antagonist and vice versa. Muscles exercised Rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, semi membranosus, semitendinosus and biceps femoris Method In a squat you start by putting the maximum or close to the maximum weight you can lift on a barbell. You should then place the barbell across your shoulders you will then lower yourself to a close to sitting position. Should Freelancers Write for Free

Should Freelancers Write for Free This past year, I finally gained the courage to launch into a full-time freelance writing career. While I’m happy, I feel a bit guilty because I arrived in part Scams Aplenty Anyone who’s dipped their toes into the freelancing pool knows that writers are subject to more scammers than you knew existed. Sometimes it feels as though an aspiring writer is a frightened fawn, unprotected in a forest full of hungry wolves. Many writers settle for low pay, assuming that their work isn’t worth a monetary reward, and agree to write that 500-word post about the 10 Best Ways to (insert here), hoping that it leads to something better. Others find themselves in the ghettos of the content mills, writing uninspiring SEO garbage for barely enough to buy lunch. First, admit that your writing has value, then kick these types to the curb. This type of free writing won’t lead to better opportunities. My Freebie Exception When starting out, I found myself in a situation familiar to many beginning writers: I had no clips. I pitched and queried my heart out, with not so much as a response from a paying market. Meanwhile, I found myself interested in local politics and showed up regularly to any political gathering that I could. That’s when I had a light-bulb moment. One of the rallies I attended concerned homelessness issues in the city of Boston. I was familiar with a local publication, The Spare Change News, that focused on news affecting the homeless. Figuring that they would be interested in the rally, I emailed a quick pitch to the editor. Within a half hour, he answered me back. I wrote up a summary of the rally, interviewed a few folks and jumped in elation as I finally saw my name in print. Since then, I’ve attracted regular clients in the journalism field using my Spare Change clips. I hadn’t originally intended on using the article for anything. I just wanted to write. But in this case, volunteering my time paid off. When to Write for Free There are always times when it’s okay to break the rules and writing for free is no exception. But if youre going to write for free, the work should satisfy the following conditions: 1. You personally support the organization Many small non-profits genuinely don’t have funds to pay writers. These organizations rely on volunteer work to carry out their operations. Just as in any volunteer work, donate your writing time if you support their cause. 2. The organization doesn’t profit off your work No one should make money off your work if you don’t. It doesn’t matter if your work will be read 3. The work will benefit your portfolio Make sure that the task aligns with your writing goals. If you aspire to be a healthcare blogger, it makes no sense to take on a free job writing about Pokemon Go. Think about the clips that your ideal client would like to see. Your time is the scarcest resource of all. Value your time as you would your money and never allow others to take advantage of your talents.

History of Climatology of Tornadoes in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area Essay

History of Climatology of Tornadoes in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area - Essay Example Drawing evidence from the studies’ statistics, the loss caused by F4 tornado despite having highest magnitude was one death and nil value of property damage. Additionally, most of the tornadoes experienced in St. Louis Metropolitan region usually take place in the afternoon hours where the damage increases as the time of the day shifts towards in the evening (National Weather Service, 2012). For illustration, the highest PRPDAM values reported entailed those occurring from 1600hrs to 2200hrs. Mostly, these encompass 50,000,000 (1815hrs), 5000000 (2035), 2500000 (1645), 30,000,000 (1859hrs) and 25,000,000 (2110hrs) except for few cases occurring towards the noon. Hence, tornadoes experienced in this region have similar characteristic trends. This is because its climatic conditions are the same despite being in the tornado’s alley (Forbes, 2011). In addition, studies show that Illinois’ most places experience numerous tornadoes during the onset days of the month (f rom 1St to around 12Th), which is contrary to Missouri’s regions. Missouri’s tornado occurrences redistribute themselves all through the month (St. Louis County Missouri, 2010). Forbes, Greg. â€Å"Tornadoes in St. Louis, Mo. (1950-2011)†.
